My name is Amelia, or Milly for short! I am currently a student at WSA, studying photography on a Graphic Arts course.
The power of pausing time with a camera, is the essence of photography. Through calm and passive observation, I choose where my focus goes when taking images, which makes me more aware of the earth around me. Again and again, I am drawn to the synchronicities between humans and nature. We have a place within eachother that must be honored. I believe that our environment shapes our identity, and as the world is always changing, we transform with it.
Photography is a way of collecting memories and taking pieces of your past and your interests into the future. In my visual work, I aim to express this connection with nature; something I believe we should all be individually conscious of.
Observation
I live in a state of continuous observation, this is what motivates me to be a photographer. Peace is something I hold onto, wherever I go. Noticing small moments around me makes me smile, and if I can capture them with a camera, I do!
Nature
I have been fortunate enough to grow up living on the edge of the countryside, so my childhood was full of magical moments in nature. I am constantly in awe of the natural world, and believe we should all individually explore our deeply rooted connection to Mother Nature.
